Dear Applicant:

The Reading Scholarship Foundation Inc. (RSF) provides financial assistance to selected students who are continuing their full-time education. The amount of these awards is determined primarily on the basis of need. The applicant’s, as well as the family's, financial resources are considered in this decision. All information submitted to RSF is held in strict confidence. RSF will determine eligibility for a scholarship based on the information provided on the application and information from the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). That information is your Submission Summary which includes your Student Aid Index (SAI). An example of this information is located on the last page of this RSF application. Please note that this form needs to be filled out and completed in one sitting. You can not save changes and login later to complete it. If you need to update the information, please email us.

If you are now in High School then you need to...

Complete Sections 1, 2, and 3 of the attached Student Application.
Attach a copy of the required information from your 2025-2026 FAFSA Submission Summary (FSS). A sample of the information we require is attached.
Complete and submit the completed Student Application and a copy of your FAFSA SAR information to the address on the Student Application.

The application and SAR information must be RECEIVED no later than Friday, March 7, 2025.

If you are now in College, then you need to...

Complete Sections 1, 2, and 4 of the attached Student Application.
Attach a copy of last year’s financial aid award letter from the school you attended.
Attach a copy of the required information from your 2025-2026 FAFSA Submission Summary (FSS). A sample of the information we require is attached.
Please attach a copy of your financial aid letter to this Student Application.

The application and SAR information must be RECEIVED by Friday, March 7, 2025.

Additionally, high school seniors and college transfer students will need to complete an Application Supplement. RSF will mail the Application Supplement in April 2025. Applicants need to complete and submit the Application by the date indicated on the Application Supplement.
Applications that do not meet the requirements or deadlines will not be considered. All information submitted to RSF is held in strict confidence. Applications are numbered upon receipt and all family names are deleted to assure anonymity.

The Awards Committee will carefully review all the information supplied in the application as well as from the FAFSA Submission Summary. This will include any special family or business circumstances you include with the application. The Awards Committee will notify all applicants by e-mail when a decision has been made concerning their application.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

Any Reading, Massachusetts resident who is currently a high school senior OR is pursuing their first undergraduate degree,
Any non-Reading, MA resident that attended Reading Memorial High School in Reading, MA, as a full-time student for a period of at least three years is also eligible.

APPLICATION COMPLETION REQUIREMENTS

The appropriate three pages of the Student Application must be completed and a copy of the required information from your 2025-2026 FAFSA Submission Summary. A sample of the information we require is attached.

FAFSA Submission Summary (FSS)- REQUIRED INFORMATION

It is not necessary to provide a copy of your entire FSS report with the application. Reading Scholarship Foundation requires a copy of the page in the FSS that shows the SAI amount (see example below). The arrow in the sample below illustrates the information we require.
