Reading Scholarship Foundation, Inc. provides financial assistance, primarily based on need, to selected Reading, MA students who are continuing their education beyond the secondary level.
The Reading Scholarship Foundation Inc., was founded in 1969 by a group of local business and community leaders. Its purpose is to encourage qualified students to seek education beyond the secondary school level, and to provide financial assistance, with emphasis on need, to a limited number of such students through the granting of scholarships at the undergraduate level. To this day, the Board of Directors continues to consist of all volunteers.
From 1970 when 57 scholarships totaling $12,785 were awarded through 2013 when 142 students received awards totaling $122,720, the Reading Scholarship Foundation has awarded a total of $3,007,495 to 4,608 local Students. The Reading Scholarship Foundation is a non-profit organization, exempt from Federal Income tax under section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code. Contributions are tax deductible to the extent provided by the Internal Revenue Code.
